‘87 J&K athletes participated in national level game events in 2025’

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir has made a significant mark on the national sporting stage, with at least 87 athletes representing the region in the latest cycle of the Khelo India National Games, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports informed Lok Sabha. As per the ministry, athletes from J&K took part in major Khelo India platforms, including in the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025 wherein the UT recorded its highest participation of 87 athletes, followed by Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2023 with 54 participants, KIYG 2025 with 53 participants and Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2023 with 34 participants. The Ministry as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) further said that national championships and major competitions are organised by respective National Sports Federations. “The Centre supports them through the National Sports Federations assistance scheme and the Khelo India Programme.”—(KNO)
